Valve’s recent suspicious activity with Left 4 Dead 2 made some fans believe that the company was working on Left 4 Dead 3, but nothing has been announced so far. Thanks to Germany finally doing the same, the uncut version is now playable worldwide. It is worth noting that Australia, where Left 4 Dead 2 was treated a similar way upon its release, lifted the censorship half a decade ago. This was made possible thanks to Valve directly requesting German authorities to re-evaluate the game’s notorious censorship. Once the free DLC is applied, regional players will be able to experience Left 4 Dead 2 in its full bloody glory and it as it was originally intended.

According to Valve, those players who would like to enjoy the full version must download an official patch. The change won’t apply to the title automatically, though. Now, Valve has shared an unexpected update on Steam, announcing that Left 4 Dead 2 is now on par with the international version of the game in terms of uncensored content in Germany. The Last Stand was initially a mod for the original Left 4 Dead game before eventually migrating to the sequel. Fascinatingly, it was developed by fans but got officially greenlit and distributed by Valve. The Last Stand DLC released back in September 2020 after, bringing a brand new story campaign along with many other new additions. That’s quite fortunate timing to update the title, especially considering that the game was treated to the first content DLC in 8 years only a few months ago. Left 4 Dead 2 is finally being uncensored in Germany after spending more than a decade lacking the signature gore and violence in the region.
